I am a contemporary representational painter with studios in Manhattan and upstate New York. After a career as a textile designer, I turned to fine art and studied academic drawing and oil painting at the Art Students’ League and the National Academy in New York City and at Studio Escalier in Paris and Argenton Chateau, France. My training was traditional but over time my approach has become more fluid. Whatever I am painting, I let my emotional response to it and my mood of the moment dictate the direction of the work. As a result, I am continually experimenting - sometimes moving towards abstraction, sometimes towards realism, but always with the intention that my work will capture the essence of the subject in front of me.
